Piano

Blagoy Filipov received his first piano lessons at the age of nine. Between 1980 and 1985 he was a pupil at the music grammar school “Lubomir Pipkov” in Sofia after which he gained entry to the class of Prof. Julia and Konstantin Ganev at the College of Music in Sofia.

On completing his studies at the Sofia College of Music in 1990 he continued his artistic education at the College of Music in Stuttgart where he came under the influence of Prof. Oleg Meisenberg and Prof. Patrick O’Byrne. Following this, he took part in master classes held by Prof. Oxana Yablonskaya in Tour, France, and Prof. Jörg Demus in Weyregg, near Salzburg in Austria. In 1996 and 1997 Blagoy Filipov received a bursary from the Accademia Pucciniana in Isernia, Italy, which gave him the opportunity to work with Professors Luigi Mostacci, Paul Badura Skoda and Oxana Yablonskaya. This was followed by solo and chamber orchestra concerts in Holland, Russia, Italy, France and Germany.

In 1996 and 1998 he won the “German Prize” at the International Piano Competition in Senigalia, Italy.

In 2003 and 2005 the Vidin State Philharmonic Orchestra gave concerts in the Liederhalle, Stuttgart, where Blagoy Filipov performed as the soloist. He was also the soloist at a number of concerts given by the Liederkranz Orchestra under the leadership of Uli Walddörfer.

For many years the pianist was invited as guest soloist to perform at the International Cultural Summer series of concerts held at Rosenegg Castle in Austria.

Besides his numerous concert appearances, Blagoy Filipov has continued to focus on his further development. Thus for a number of years he has regularly attended the master class of Prof. Alberto Portugheis at the Steinway Hall in London, where he has performed in concerts several times. In 2007 he gave a solo concert in one of the most famous churches in London, St. Martin-in-the-fields.

In 2010 and 2011 he participated in master classes given by Prof. Peter Feuchtwanger in Stuttgart and Karlsruhe. In the same year the pianist gave well-received performances at the Holzgerlingen Piano Weekend.

2012 is a fruitful year for Blagoy’s musical career, with concerts in England, France, Austria and Germany.

2014 and later (2016) he celebrated more successes as soloist at the summer concerts in the Austrian Rosenegg castle.
2015 he was invited as a guest professor at the Federal Academy of Musical Youth Education in Trosingen, where he has led a seminar group for Klezmer music. In the same year, he took part at the international classical piano festival at the water Castle of Bad Rappenau.
2016 he gave in Stuttgart several solo piano concerts, amongst others in the White Hall of the New Castle and in the Big Health Hall (Kursaal) of Bad Cannstatt.
2016 and 2017 he was invited again as a soloist at the Geislinger Academy and the Liederkranz Orchestra.
